Jewelry Display Mirror...

Well, I did it.  I finally bit the bullet and started this blog that has been on my mind for some time now.  Finally a place to share some of my loves with the rest of the world!  :)  I hope you enjoy it.  I hope you visit often.  I hope you leave comments!  (Nice comments, or good critiques, hopefully)  ;)

Before I dive into my *first post {eeeeeee!}  There's something you should know about me.  Well, both me and my husband really...  I'm an imaginative person.  I love to create.  Without being boastful; I think I create some pretty beautiful and awesome stuff... in my head.  The problem is, I think of all this great stuff, but don't know how to make it come to life.  This is where my hubby comes in.  He's a well-rounded handy man.  Plumbing is his license, but he can (and graciously will) create anything I come up with!  I hand him a post-it note with a chicken-scratch sketch of "what I have in mind" and he heads down to his humble little shop, and comes back up with a masterpiece.  Seriously, I don't know how all of these other DIY bloggers out there do it.  I know nothing of tools, in fact, they scare me.  Especially the ones with sharp edges.  I can whip out a paint brush, but please don't ask me to cut or screw anything together.  It won't end happily.  So you see, my hubby and I, we make an awesome team.  As much as he probably doesn't want to admit it, Mr. B (the hubs) plays a very big role in this blog.  Without him, I'd have next to nothing to even blog about.

And with that being said, I present to you my Jewelry Display Mirror!!  I have been wanting a full length mirror for YEARS.  But didn't want to pay for one, or settle for one of those cheap-squirrly things at Walmart.  After seeing those cool DIY jewelry display things made from frames that you find all over Pinterest, I knew I wanted to combine that idea with my full length mirror.  After I sketched a design, Mr. B worked his magic.  But this was an even larger group effort than just Mr. B and I... My ever-so-talented sister-in-law over at Country Girl Home painted this for me with her new paint sprayer.  (Yes, I am related to many talented people, as you will quickly come to find in upcoming posts, I'm sure)  She even gave me a hand in choosing the paint color: Foxtrot in a satin finish by Valspar.  Thanks again, Lindsay!!
I found a bunch of random knobs that I loved at both Hobby Lobby and Bennion Crafts.  I loved the idea of putting on a bunch of vintage door knobs, but only had luck in finding the two glass ones.  The rest are just droor pulls, and a couple of hooks.  But I'm actually happier with my finds than what I originally had in my head.  I just love the designs of the little knobs!!
Don't ask me how Mr. B mounted this to the wall.  I know it involved large screws bolted into studs, and some liquid nails.  (this thing was heavy)  Lets just say, this thing isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  ;)

I love seeing all my 'pretties' right at my fingertips!  Well, almost all of them... this is only my stash of necklaces.  I still have a ton of earrings, bracelets and rings that couldn't make it onto this mirror.  (should I be admitting that???)  Okay, so I have a slight accessory problem.  Please tell me I'm not the only one!!!  I'm thinking I may need to make one of those frame jewelry holders after all...
